How Ozone
Generators Work

The science behind permanent odor elimination — and how to get the best results from your Enerzen.

The Science

What Is Ozone?

Ozone (O₃) is a molecule composed of three oxygen atoms — compared to the two atoms in the oxygen we breathe (O₂). That extra atom makes ozone chemically unstable and highly reactive.

When ozone encounters an odor molecule — whether from smoke, mold, pet dander, or cooking — it bonds to it chemically. The extra oxygen atom attaches to the odor compound, breaking it down into neutral, odorless components.

The result is not masking or filtering the smell. The odor molecule itself is destroyed. This is why ozone treatment produces permanent results rather than temporary relief.

After reacting with odor compounds, any remaining ozone naturally reverts back to regular oxygen (O₂) — leaving no residue, no chemicals, and no fragrance behind.

Advantages Over Other Odor Solutions

🌿

Eliminates, Doesn't Mask

Air fresheners and deodorizing sprays cover odors with a stronger scent. Ozone breaks down the chemical structure of the odor molecule itself — no masking, no temporary cover-up.

🧱

Reaches Where You Can't Clean

Ozone penetrates walls, ceilings, vents, upholstery and subflooring. Scrubbing removes surface odors. Ozone reaches the embedded sources you can't access.

💨

No Air Flow Required

Unlike HEPA filters and ionizers, ozone doesn't need air passing through the machine. It disperses through the room by diffusion — treating every surface it touches.

🔬

EPA Registered Technology

Enerzen ozone generators are EPA registered (Est. No. 094263-CHN-001) — meeting federal standards for the safe manufacture and labeling of ozone-generating devices.

Step by Step

How to Use Your Enerzen

1

Remove or clean accessible odor sources

Take out garbage, clean pet bedding, wipe down greasy surfaces. Ozone handles what you can't reach — give it the best chance by removing what you can first.

2

Clear the space completely

Remove all people, pets and plants from the treatment area. Ozone is harmful at treatment concentrations. Close windows and doors to contain ozone in the space. Use the included door hanger to alert others.

3

Place the unit and set the timer

Position the Enerzen in a central location, elevated if possible for better ozone dispersal. Set the timer based on room size and odor severity. Start with 30–60 minutes for average rooms; increase for large spaces or severe odors.

4

Leave immediately — do not remain in the space

Exit as soon as the machine starts. Do not re-enter during treatment. If you accidentally inhale concentrated ozone, move to fresh air immediately.

5

Wait 30 minutes after the timer completes

Allow at least 30 minutes for residual ozone to naturally convert back to oxygen before re-entering. Open windows to accelerate this process. The space is safe when the clean, neutral air smell returns.

Important Safety Information: Enerzen ozone generators are designed for use in unoccupied spaces only. Ozone at treatment concentrations can cause respiratory irritation. Always vacate the area before starting treatment, and always wait the full 30-minute clearance period before re-entry. Not for sale in California.
